Christine Smith is a proud Gamilaroi woman with more than 16 years of experience across the disability and community sectors where she has worked closely with children, families, and the broader community. Based on Dharawal land, she is strongly committed to supporting children, families, and communities, and to advancing positive outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Christine’s professional background includes her work as an occupational therapist within the disability sector, where she supported individuals to build independence, strengthen skills, and improve their overall quality of life. She also served as a permanency coordinator with the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ), collaborating with families and service providers to ensure culturally respectful, stable, and sustainable outcomes for Aboriginal children and young people.

Throughout her career, Christine has remained deeply committed to advocacy, cultural safety, and driving meaningful, long-term change. Her work is guided by a strong belief in community empowerment and her dedication to achieving better outcomes for Aboriginal families and communities.
