RS Creative Solutions was engaged to creative the artwork for the 2025 NSW Police Force Aboriginal Employee Network Conference using the theme “Combined Journey.” This theme represents the gathering of Aboriginal staff from across NSW Police bringing people from different regions together to connect, share stories, and reunite through culture and community.
At the heart of the artwork is the Fire Pit located at the NSW Police Academy in Goulburn, NSW. This fire pit has become a significant place of gathering and connection, it symbolises the spirit of the conference coming together, sharing stories, healing, and recharging. Surrounding the fire pit are current and new staff coming together.
Above the fire pit is the Eagle, a powerful symbol of protection, strength, courage, and wisdom. It represents the importance of balance and power, and the dignity that comes with grace earned through knowledge and hard work. The wings symbolise the far-reaching presence of the Aboriginal Network across NSW extending out and over our people connecting to country and to our people, embracing and supporting them wherever they are.
The Aboriginal Employee Network (represented through the middle of the artwork) has a long-standing history, with its formal establishment in 2005. Since then, it has continued to grow and evolve. Today, staff connect locally and regionally through cultural activities, art, awareness sessions, yarns, shared meals, laughter, and genuine connection. The Network is dedicated to building a culturally safe, supportive, and sustainable community for Aboriginal employees across the NSW Police Force. It offers cultural leadership, access to professional and cultural development, mentoring, and networking opportunities—both within the organisation and with external agencies and Aboriginal communities.
The NSW Police Force Aboriginal Employee Network Conference is held every two years and welcomes all Aboriginal staff whether they’re new to the organisation or have been part of the workforce for many years.
The aim of the conference is for attendees to leave the conference feeling a strong sense of connection, inspiration, and empowerment through the workshops held during the conference: Cultural Safety, Leadership, Health and Wellbeing and Attracting & Growing Aboriginal Talent represented by the four large motifs. Connecting these workshops is a representation of the sharing of knowledge.
The conference creates a culturally safe space where our Aboriginal staff can come together, share openly, and support each other’s healing something that’s hard to find without this gathering. The conference also reignites a passion for the Aboriginal Employee Network being a connected workforce (at the top and bottom) and encourages more staff to engage with the network and stay actively involved, the stars represent our ancestors watching over everyone.
The vibrant dotted background reflects the various countries our people come from flowing in from the beach to the bush with two symbols depicting our regions across NSW that our people travel from coming together for the conference. The white dotted line throughout the artwork represents our “Combined Journey”.
